During the HASCON FANmily event there were numerous panels for the various brands and licenses. The second G.I. Joe panel we attended was “Creating the World of G.I. Joe Characters”. In this panel various members of the design team shared information about the process of figure design and who/what inspired them to create the icon figures of the G.I. Joe franchise. I was surprised to find out that most of the “faces” of Joe were Hasbro employees. They also discussed the various lines throughout the years. This panel also brought back some great members of my childhood when I used to play with G.I. Joe figures.

This was a great panel overall lots of great information about history of the franchise from the figure aspect. Definitely learned some things I didn’t know.

Don't forget to check out the G.I. Joe display gallery and our coverage of the Art of G.I. Joe: Packaging an Icon panel.
